About Us

Growing environmentalists and changemakers.

Youth in Bloom Collective is a teen-led climate action organization that empowers students to protect the climate and inspire youth through environmental lessons and hands-on sustainability work in their communities. We lead workshops at local schools; teach virtual environmental lessons to ESL students; and lead local climate action projects such as picking up litter, making recycled crafts, establishing recycling systems through chapters across the globe. We strive to make climate action personal, fun, and doable for youth everywhere.

On this site, you’ll find our project highlights, chapter starter resources, and more. Whether you’re here to start your own chapter or just explore, welcome! We’re glad you’re growing with us.

Our Story

Hi! I'm Rory Gaarder-Wang, the founder of Youth in Bloom Collective.

I started YIBC because I believe that every kid deserves the opportunity to discover the magic of nature and making a difference. From building forts at the creek to walking countless miles around local parks, I have always loved nature, and, just like so many other chapter leaders, I feel incredibly fortunate to have had that love instilled in me early on.

I believe that teens and young people can create lasting change by starting small, staying ‘rooted’ to their communities, and protecting the environment.  Youth in Bloom Collective empowers students to lead climate action projects in their own communities, like planting trees, growing school gardens, and educating young students. Running a YIBC chapter provides teen leaders with the opportunity to earn volunteer hours, make a tangible difference in their community, connect with kids, and enjoy nature- all while being a phenomenal addition to their resumes and college applications.

We're always looking to expand. You can join our team by forming a chapter or applying for special roles at the collective. Simply email us at youthinbloomorinda@gmail.com with your resume and the role(s) you're interested in taking on.

Can’t wait to meet you!
